Undergraduate Students
I welcome undergraduates who are interested in environmental microbiology and bioinformatics to join my lab during semesters and/or summers. I will work with students to find suitable lab activities, and if students show that they are motivated, I will help students to develop more independent projects.
BGSU's Center for Undergraduate Scholarship provides research grants for undergrads to complete a semester-long research project under the supervision of a faculty mentor. I encourage students to pursue this opportunity after gaining some experience with labwork.

Graduate Students
I am always seeking highly motivated students who are interested in pursuing MS and PhD degrees. Please reach out about your interests and desired area of research. I encourage prospective students to explore fellowship opportunities, including the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) and the DOD National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Programs.
If you are interested in either position, please contact Dr. Ward with a brief description of your academic and research interests, your CV and relevant coursework.
